Honda 0 Series: The Future of EVs with ASIMO OS

Published Date: January 8, 2025 - 9:37 am. Modified: January 8, 2025 © by Jan Glovac

Honda has unveiled the Honda 0 SUV, the first prototype in their Honda 0 Series lineup, at CES 2024. This innovative medium-sized SUV adopts the “SPACE-HUB” concept showcased during the event, providing a glimpse into Honda’s vision for the next generation of electric vehicles (EVs). It merges advanced technologies with spacious, user-centric design.

The Honda 0 SUV is built around the development philosophy of “Thin, Light, and Wise.” This approach emphasizes maximizing interior space while achieving a lightweight yet intelligent design. The result? A cabin that offers an open, expansive feel paired with exceptional visibility for passengers.

The vehicle integrates next-generation technologies to optimize its functionality, comfort, and overall performance. Features include a variety of advanced systems designed to enhance the digital user experience (UX) and provide an innovative space that continuously evolves to meet individual user preferences.

The Honda 0 SUV debuts Honda’s new proprietary vehicle operating system, ASIMO OS. Named after Honda’s iconic humanoid robot, ASIMO OS represents decades of robotics and software advancements. It drives an unprecedented degree of personalized optimization, delivering a tailored in-car experience for each user. From digital dashboards to seamless in-car controls, ASIMO OS ensures a hyper-customized driving experience.

Key advancements include high-precision 3D gyroscope technology. Borrowed from Honda’s robotics expertise, this innovation enhances dynamic control across varying road conditions, ensuring smooth and confident driving at all times.

The ASIMO OS also enables over-the-air updates (OTA), allowing the system to evolve with user preferences long after purchase. This includes enhancements to driver-assist technologies, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), and integrated dynamics control for a connected, enjoyable driving experience.

ASIMO OS centralizes and continuously updates critical vehicle functions. Highlights include:

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS): Elevates safety and ease during commutes.
  • In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI): Offers cutting-edge entertainment options and connectivity.
  • Integrated Dynamics Control: Delivers superior handling and driving pleasure.

Honda plans to roll out these sophisticated systems globally, starting with production models slated for release in North America in early 2026—followed by expansions into Japan, Europe, and other markets.

In addition to the SUV, Honda showcased the Honda 0 SALOON prototype at CES 2025. Derived from the earlier “SALOON” concept, this low-profile sedan combines sporty aesthetics with an unexpectedly spacious interior. The SALOON incorporates the same “Thin, Light, and Wise” design principles and boasts a new EV-focused architecture.

Advanced features of the 0 SALOON include Honda’s Level 3 automation technology, which the company pioneered globally. This capability provides reliable, high-level autonomous driving experiences enhanced by ASIMO OS.

Production for the 0 SALOON will also commence in 2026, positioning it as the flagship model of the Honda 0 Series.

Through the Honda 0 Series, Honda aims to lead the automotive industry towards embracing software-defined vehicle (SDV) technology. The blend of advanced robotics and intelligent systems ensures more than just a vehicle—it creates an evolving mobility experience.
