Jaguar’s next-generation era has officially begun. The British marque’s first all-new model since the launch of the I-Pace in 2018 has hit the road for testing ahead of a planned debut in 2026. This fully electric four-door GT, the first of three upcoming Jaguars, will ride on the company’s new JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture) platform. Alongside this sleek grand tourer, Jaguar is also preparing an electric luxury sedan and a high-end SUV to complete its EV lineup by the end of the decade.
Performance figures will be impressive. Jaguar has already confirmed a power output exceeding 575 bhp, a driving range of over 430 miles, and a price tag north of £100,000. But spy shots of this prototype offer the first real glimpse into the car’s design and presence on the road.
Beneath the heavy camouflage, its long, low-slung silhouette is clear. The car features a stretched wheelbase with a cab-rearward proportion, placing the A-pillars as far back as possible—a design trait reminiscent of some of Jaguar’s most iconic grand tourers from the past. The fastback-like roofline enhances its coupé-inspired stance, making it a direct rival to the Porsche Taycan and Mercedes EQS.
Interestingly, the prototype’s size and shape closely resemble the canceled Jaguar XJ EV, which was scrapped in 2021. However, this new model shares no direct components with the abandoned project and instead introduces an entirely fresh vision for the brand.
Road presence will be unmistakable. Jaguar’s next-generation design language will be defined by ultrathin LED lighting, nearly invisible when switched off, and a radically reimagined front fascia. Although the prototype appears to retain the familiar I-Pace-style grille panel, its camouflage hints that it is purely aesthetic—likely destined to be replaced in the final production version. Production models will adopt an all-new Jaguar face, with a unique styling signature centered around a new decorative grille design and an evolved badge presentation.
A Revolutionary Rear-End Design
The most controversial and futuristic design change will be at the back. Jaguar’s new era cars will not feature a traditional rear windscreen. This innovation mirrors the approach taken by the Polestar 4, opting for a digital rear-view mirror in its place. While images of the rear end of the prototype remain elusive, this shift promises to redefine the driving experience.
Though the cabin remains hidden, sources suggest Jaguar is pursuing a minimalist, tech-forward interior. Physical buttons will be omitted in favor of an expansive wraparound digital interface spanning the dashboard. A secondary touchscreen in the center console will control climate and media functions.
Jaguar aims to deliver a more luxurious rear-seat experience as well. Rear passengers can expect dedicated digital screens, USB-C charging ports, and window sunshades. The brand may offer the option of two separate executive-style seats in place of a conventional rear bench—creating a truly first-class environment.
What’s Next for Jaguar?
Jaguar will lift the covers off its Design Vision Concept at Miami Art Week on December 2. This highly anticipated concept car will preview the future design language of the entire range. The unveiling will mark a milestone in Jaguar’s ambitious reinvention—part of JLR’s Reimagine strategy announced in 2021.
In preparation for this transformation, Jaguar has already ceased production of most of its current lineup, leaving only the F-Pace SUV in certain markets for a limited time. With no new models arriving for nearly two years, Jaguar will focus on aftersales services and global EV testing programs before the final production version of the GT arrives in showrooms.
