Cadillac has ambitious new plans for the electric future. The brand aims to take the number one spot in luxury EV sales across the U.S. by 2025. John Roth, Cadillac’s Vice President, emphasized this goal during a recent media briefing, highlighting Cadillac’s ongoing transformation into an electric-first brand.
The Cadillac Lyriq, a standout performer, has already gained impressive traction in this transition. U.S. sales of the Lyriq surged by an astonishing 210% in 2024, with 28,402 units sold last year. This achievement has positioned the Lyriq as the best-selling electric mid-size luxury SUV in America while also proving to be a major conquest vehicle.

The Cadillac Lyriq has emerged as a key player in the electric luxury SUV market.
What’s more impressive? A massive 76% of Lyriq buyers switched to Cadillac from competing brands, and half of them were entirely new to General Motors (GM). This influx of new consumers is a crucial step in repositioning Cadillac as a dominant force in the EV market.
Cadillac isn’t stopping at the Lyriq. Its electric SUV lineup continues to grow. The Escalade IQ launched at the end of 2024 and has already accumulated 670 new customers. Additionally, the Optiq and Vistiq are expected to hit dealer lots in the first quarter of 2025. With these launches, Cadillac will have a strong presence in every major luxury SUV segment, offering customers various electric luxury options.

Cadillac also hinted at more electric vehicles on the way. While Roth remained tight-lipped, a few upcoming developments are already known. The 2026 Cadillac Lyriq-V, a performance-oriented version of the Lyriq, is in the works and will carry the brand’s V-Series legacy into the EV era.
Speculations are rising about the possibility of additional variants, particularly an entry-level Optiq to make Cadillac’s EV lineup more accessible. The current Optiq starts at $52,895, just below the Lyriq at $58,595, which raises questions about positioning. Addressing this gap with new models could bring in even more customers.
2025 promises to be a crucial year for Cadillac, as the brand aims to both popularize EV technology and redefine American luxury.
