Mazda has officially uncovered the electric 6e for the European market, set to go on sale in late 2025. With sleek design cues, a solid range, and innovative features, this liftback sedan aims to rival the Tesla Model 3.
The 6e is based on the EZ-6, which debuted in China in 2024. This all-electric sedan carries Mazda’s signature Kodo design language, with refined details like a front grille framed by LED lighting. The lights serve a dual purpose, offering an animated glow to show the battery’s charging state. Its liftback setup provides greater practicality than the Model 3’s standard trunk design. Frameless door glass, aerodynamic rooflines, and an active rear spoiler enhance its sporty appearance.

Power options include a rear-wheel-drive setup in two configurations. The base model houses a 68.8 kWh battery, good for up to 300 miles (483 km) and supporting 200 kW DC fast-charging. A quick 15-minute charge adds approximately 145 miles (233 km) of range, while a 10%-80% charge takes just 22 minutes. Opting for the larger 80 kWh battery increases the range to 345 miles (555 km) but extends the charging time to 45 minutes.
Performance-wise, the smaller-battery variant delivers 255 hp and sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds. The bigger battery trades power for endurance, offering 241 hp, reaching 62 mph in 7.8 seconds. While not as swift as its rivals—the Model 3’s base model manages 62 mph in 5.8 seconds—the 6e still promises a refined driving experience.

Rear-wheel-drive dynamics and an active spoiler suggest a fun performance edge.
Inside, the cabin prioritizes sophistication over minimalism. A 10.2-inch digital driver display, paired with a head-up display, enhances visibility for essential driving data. Meanwhile, a 14.6-inch central touchscreen handles most controls and infotainment functions. The interior gives a more traditional luxury feel compared to the sparse look of the Model 3.

Production is planned for the second half of 2025, with mainland Europe receiving the vehicle first. UK buyers will be able to purchase it in early 2026. This launch timeframe positions the Mazda 6e as a serious competitor in the growing mid-range electric vehicle market.
