Audi is preparing to expand its electric fleet with the Audi A6L E-Tron, a long-wheelbase version of the A6 E-Tron sedan. Specially designed for the Chinese market, this EV will be produced locally, sharing its cutting-edge PPE architecture with the Audi Q6L E-Tron.

The luxury sedan has been spotted during winter testing in Northern Sweden, giving us a glimpse of its refined design and enhanced proportions.

The Audi A6L E-Tron features a notably extended wheelbase, making it larger and more spacious than the standard A6 E-Tron. The roofline sees adjustments, with a stretched rear section adding a sense of elegance and balance. Behind the C-pillars, the rear window area has been reshaped to provide a distinctly upscale appearance.

Camouflage on the white prototype partially hides the finer details, but it reveals a redesigned front bumper with a wider intake and subtle modifications to the closed-off grille. The rear diffuser’s design appears simpler compared to the standard A6 E-Tron.

The A6L E-Tron builds on technology introduced in Audi’s Q6L E-Tron SUV, which debuted at the 2024 Beijing Auto Show. That SUV offered China-specific enhancements, such as exclusive infotainment options and a larger battery pack. Expect similar features to trickle into the A6L E-Tron.

For power, the A6L E-Tron is likely to include the SUV’s 107 kWh battery pack, delivering over 435 miles (700 km) of range on the CLTC test cycle. Buyers can expect both single-motor rear-wheel-drive (RWD) and dual-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants, ensuring flexibility in performance and pricing.

The sedan will be manufactured in Changchun, China, through the Audi-FAW joint venture, marking it as the second PPE-based EV built on Chinese soil after the Q6L E-Tron.

This strategy reflects Audi’s increasing focus on the Chinese electric vehicle market, catering to the region’s demand for luxurious, spacious sedans with advanced technology. By producing locally, Audi strengthens its presence in China while optimizing costs.
