The iconic BMW iX just received a significant refresh for the 2026 model year. BMW has refined its electric SUV lineup with improved range, upgraded batteries, and an updated design that hints at the company’s Neue Klasse future. What’s more, the starting price has been trimmed, making it more competitive than ever.
Three new trims now define the lineup—xDrive45, xDrive60, and the M70 xDrive. Each offers distinct performance and driving ranges, delivering more versatility for BMW’s growing EV audience.
The new iX xDrive45 replaces the outgoing xDrive50 as the new entry-level model. It now comes with 402 horsepower and an estimated range of up to 312 miles, making it a practical choice for every day EV users.
Moving up, the xDrive60 delivers 536 horsepower and stretches the estimated range to 340 miles, while the M70 xDrive brings a staggering 650 horsepower for spirited driving and a range of 302 miles, showcasing BMW’s sporty DNA.
This boost in range is primarily thanks to revamped energy systems and larger batteries. BMW has matched specific battery sizes to each trim: 100.1 kWh for the xDrive45, 113.4 kWh for the xDrive60, and 112.8 kWh for the M70. With characteristic German precision, BMW has optimized these battery capacities to suit each trim’s needs—maximizing balance, range, and power delivery.
BMW has also given the 2026 iX a fresh aesthetic. Angular headlamps featuring a new quartet-line signature draw inspiration from the Vision Neue Klasse concept, signaling a design direction that might soon spread across BMW’s lineup. The grille remains distinctively bold, but it’s been tweaked with diagonal detailing to create a more cohesive appearance.
Inside, the cabin introduces further luxury and comfort. An M Sport Package is available, offering “M Multi-Function seats” that increase lateral support and emphasize style. This package is standard on the M70 trim but optional on the other models. A Climate Comfort package enhances coziness with heated surfaces for the instrument panel, glove box, door panels, center armrest, and rear seats.
The pricing sees a significant adjustment for accessibility. The base xDrive45 trim starts at $75,150, including the $1,175 destination fee, a notable $10,000 reduction compared to the prior entry model. The xDrive60 begins at $88,500, while the M70 xDrive commands a premium starting at $111,500. Production is slated to start in March, with deliveries expected by Q2 2025.
For fans of bold EV advancements, the 2026 BMW iX combines performance, luxury, and cutting-edge design updates seamlessly.
