Chevrolet is finally launching the Blazer EV SS, bringing the high-performance electric SUV to market after a significant delay. Originally set for release in late 2023, the EV crossover is now expected to be available this quarter.
The Blazer EV SS is no ordinary electric vehicle. It features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering 615 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. These numbers surpass previous estimates of 557 hp and 648 lb-ft, making it even more thrilling on the road. The SUV can blast from 0-60 mph in just 3.4 seconds, thanks to its Wide Open Watts mode.

This level of power puts it on par with the Cadillac Lyriq-V and Cadillac Vistiq, both luxury EVs with similar performance. However, Chevrolet is offering this for a much lower price—starting at $62,490 (including destination fees), compared to the Lyriq-V’s $79,990 price tag.
Beyond raw power, the Blazer EV SS also delivers a solid driving range. It has an EPA-estimated range of 303 miles, outpacing some competitors like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT (280 miles) and matching the Jeep Wagoneer S.

To celebrate its launch, Chevrolet will feature this all-electric SS model as the official pace car for this weekend’s Daytona 500. While mostly stock, the pace car gets custom graphics and integrated strobe lights for a race-ready appearance.
