Audi Teases New Q5 SUV, Set for September 2 Reveal

Published Date: September 24, 2024 - 10:40 pm. Modified: December 12, 2024 © by Jan Glovac

Audi is gearing up to unveil its next-generation Q5 SUV on September 2. The German automaker recently shared a teaser image, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.

The image shows the driver’s side headlight of the new Q5. It’s slimmer and more swept-back than the current model’s. The hood also sports a more sculpted look.

Audi’s known for its distinctive lighting designs. The new Q5 keeps this tradition alive. It features individual LED elements that might be customizable.

The Q5 is a big deal for Audi. It’s their best-selling model by a wide margin. This new version is part of Audi’s plan to launch over 20 new models by the end of 2025.

Audi CEO Gernot Döllner highlighted the Q5’s importance. “The Audi Q5 has represented the success of Audi for more than 15 years,” he said. “With the third generation of our most successful SUV, we will now begin rejuvenating our SUV portfolio.”

Audi’s keeping quiet on details. But we know one thing for sure: there won’t be an all-electric version.

How do we know? Audi recently introduced a new naming system. Even numbers are for electric vehicles, odd numbers for gas-powered ones. Since it’s called the Q5, not the Q6, it won’t be fully electric.

But don’t worry, eco-conscious drivers. The new Q5 will offer at least one hybrid option. Traditional gas engines will also be available.

This reveal marks the start of a broader update for Audi’s SUV lineup. After the Q5 debuts, expect to see refreshes of other Audi SUVs in the coming months.

The current Q5 has been around since 2018. It’s due for an update, and Audi’s delivering.

This new Q5 is part of a bigger push at Audi. They’re planning to launch more than 20 new models in 2024 and 2025. Over half of these will be electric.

Audi’s already started rolling out new electric models this year. The Q6 e-tron debuted in spring, followed by the A6 e-tron in late July.

But Audi isn’t forgetting about traditional engines. They recently unveiled the new A5 family, which still uses gas power.

The Q5 reveal is just the beginning. Audi plans to refresh its entire SUV range after this. It’s part of a strategy to keep their lineup fresh and competitive.

For Audi fans eager to see more, the wait won’t be long. The full reveal happens on September 2. Audi will share all the details, images, and videos about the new Q5 on that day.

Sales of the new Q5 should start soon after the reveal. If you’re in the market for a luxury compact SUV, you might want to hold off until you see what Audi has in store.

This new Q5 arrives at an interesting time for the auto industry. Many carmakers are going all-in on electric vehicles. But Audi’s keeping a foot in both worlds, offering both electric and gas-powered options.

It’s a smart move. While electric vehicles are growing in popularity, many drivers still prefer or need gas-powered cars. By offering both, Audi can cater to a wider range of customers.

The luxury compact SUV market is highly competitive. The Q5 faces stiff competition from rivals like the BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLC. This new version will need to bring its A-game to stay on top.

As September 2 approaches, car enthusiasts and Audi fans alike will be eagerly waiting. Will the new Q5 live up to expectations? We’ll find out soon enough.
