Honda Unveils Bold EV Plans: Two New Prototypes to Debut at CES 2025

Honda is accelerating its journey toward an all-electric future with exciting developments in its vehicle lineup. The Japanese automaker has confirmed its plans to showcase two electric vehicle prototypes at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in 2025. These next-generation models mark a significant step in Honda’s ambitious “0 Series” EV portfolio, which is set to include five SUVs globally by 2030, alongside two all-electric sedans.

Revolutionary Prototypes Headed to CES

Honda is giving us a preview of what’s to come with a teaser image of the two prototypes. On the left, the sedan prototype bears a striking resemblance to last year’s Saloon EV Concept. It retains standout features such as the intricate LED taillights, the illuminated Honda logo, and the slim brake light embedded in the rear diffuser. However, this iteration has been labeled a “prototype,” signaling that it is closer to production than its concept predecessor.

A Game-Changing Boxy SUV

The second prototype grabs even more attention due to its bold and rugged design. This SUV features a boxy silhouette with a long wheelbase and a nearly vertical rear window, seamlessly integrated with a wraparound LED light bar. Positioned as a large SUV, it may rival models like the Hyundai Ioniq 9 or Kia EV9 in terms of size. The absence of traditional side mirrors and the minimalist rear bumper lighting further suggest Honda’s focus on aerodynamic efficiency and modern aesthetics.

This new addition is part of Honda’s “0 Series” roadmap, which outlines multiple SUV models launching between 2026 and 2029. Among them are a mid-size SUV, an entry-level SUV, a three-row large SUV, and compact variants set to cater to a variety of global markets.

At CES, Honda will also reveal its proprietary vehicle operating system, which will power future EVs under the “Thin, Light, and Wise” design philosophy. The operating system will underpin its Software Defined Vehicles (SDVs), allowing for cutting-edge features like automated driving and seamless user interfaces.
