The current generation G80/G81 M3 and G82/G83 M4 have now been around for 2 years (introduced in September 2020) and the controversial front grille has certainly become less of a hot topic in that time. We believe the fact that many owners have modified their cars in the looks department to highlight what a tough overall shape it is has helped. As usual the first step in this area is often to lower it a little and then put on a set of aggressive aftermarket wheels, which is where we come in.
Our G8X M3 and M4 galleries are growing quickly so we thought it might be a good idea to discuss some of the more popular styles and brands for this platform.
Flow Formed – sub $4000
The most popular option in the “flow formed” category would be the Vossen HF (Hybrid Forged, not to be mistaken with a fully forged wheel though) series, which comprises of the HF-1, HF-2, HF-3, HF-4T, HF-5 and the latest HF-7. Pricing varies with these wheels available in 19/20/21-inch to suit.
Next up is the V-FF series from Vorsteiner which comprises of a number of different designs. Generally offered in a 20×10 and 20×11 these sets retail for around $3300 USD.
The last option we would like to highlight is the Variant “Cold Forged” (again not to be confused with fully forged wheels) range, which consists of the Argon, Krypton, Radon and Xenon. These retail for just under $3000 in a 20-inch setup.
Fully Forged – $4000 and above
For the lightest and strongest option for your G8X M3 or M4 you will need to look at fully forged wheels, which can either be a monoblock (1 piece) or modular (2 or 3-piece) design. The number of options for styles and finishes is greatly increased when going this route and is the best way to set your ride apart from the crowd.
From what we have seen the clear front runner in popularity in this category is BC Forged with their endless list of designs in both categories (monoblock and modular) at a reasonable price and fairly short turn around time.
Other reputable brands to consider for fully forged wheels for your M3 or M4 are ANRKY, BBS, Forgeline and Signature. In addition, both Vorsteiner and Vossen who were mentioned in the previous category also have a full range of forged wheels.
